Brazil

The Brasillinois Initiative fosters research collaboration and student mobility between the three universities of the University of Illinois System and public research foundations, universities, and federal agencies in education and health in Brazil.

Mexico

The purpose of the Illinois Mexican and Mexican American Students Initiative (I-MMÁS) is to increase the recruitment of Mexican and Mexican-American students within the University of Illinois System while building a large-scale presence with Mexican academic, research, and private sector institutions.

Taiwan

The University of Illinois System has established a major strategic partnerships with the University Academic Alliance in Taiwan (UAAT) and National Taiwan University (NTU) to foster interdisciplinary research, academic exchanges and workforce development in key focus areas like health & medicine, data science & AI, sustainability, quantum & semiconductor, and social science.

Israel

This joint program between the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI) and the University of Illinois System (U of I) aims to facilitate both research and development cooperation and delivery of talent, innovations, and resources from these universities to the marketplace.

India

The University of Illinois System is strengthening ties with India through new liaison offices in New Delhi and Bengaluru (planned) to boost student recruitment, research, and corporate partnerships. The system also has signed agreements for new academic and research partnerships with seven of India’s top universities and research agencies.

United Kingdom

In the UK, the U of I System has over 450 alumni living in the region, as well as strong ties to Cardiff University and partners in Edinburgh.

The University of Illinois System fosters strong, cross-border partnerships with Canada, highlighted by a major collaboration with the University of Toronto on research in mobility, data science, and sustainability. These efforts include a joint seed fund, participation in the Great Lakes Higher Education Consortium (GLHEC), and a long history of academic, research, and student exchange, particularly within the Great Lakes region.
